sound - singing - shamanic practice

I offer one-to-one and group sessions with sound therapy, therapeutic voice, singing, and shamanic practices.

Grounded in safety, compassion, and non-judgement, I create space for self-enquiry, discovery, creativity, release and healing.

My Journey so far….

For over fifteen years, I have been using creativity as a means to connect, heal, and transform.  After completing a Masters in Applied Theatre in Social & Community Contexts, I've had the privilege of running many creative projects, particularly co-founding and leading Miss Represented.  For over ten years Miss Rep worked with young women facing complex problems who are disadvantaged through cycles of dysfunction, trauma, and economic, social and political barriers.  The girls’ lives were complicated and full of rich, important stories that matter.  We made those stories visible reaching out across the community sparking vital dialogue. Miss Rep supported the young women in building resilience and self-love, more deeply understanding their own life experiences, expressing themselves through creativity and discovering purpose.

This was an extraordinary experience of witnessing the transformative capacities of the creative arts, how being seen and heard in a safe space and having the opportunity to acknowledge, share and release painful life experiences can bring self awareness and healing.   Throughout this time I embarked on my own personal healing journey, and in many ways the project and my own life went hand in hand.  I came to realise that this work, both personally and professionally, was a Rite of Passage.  We were guiding each other through life’s transitions and realisations, the highs and the lows, standing firm and saying, ‘we are here and we matter’.   I carry this, with curiosity and compassion, into all my ongoing work.

Arts in social and healing contexts…

The next evolution…bringing it all together…

Since then, I've followed this path of discovery and learning, delving into collaborative vocal improvisation, therapeutic singing, sound therapy using voice, somatic awareness, and the profound wisdom of healing practices from indigenous cultures.

I have gained a higher diploma with distinction from the British Academy of Sound Therapy, I have trained with renowned vocal leaders Briony Greenhill and Guillermo Rosenthuler, and I am initiated into the Andean Q’ero tradition through deeply powerful shamanic practitioner training, Temenos.

In my one to one work, I believe that compassionately following resistance holds the key to learning and growth. Through self-enquiry and giving voice to the body and subconscious, my sessions offer openings for self-awareness, healing and connection.  I provide accessible tools that contribute to balanced wellbeing, reducing stress and fostering conscious, connected living. I continue to learn and grow, incorporating ongoing professional and personal development into my practice.

I run singing and therapeutic voicework workshops and courses that offer body, breath and vocal tools that tap into our parasympathetic nervous system and restore equilibrium when we are anxious or overwhelmed.  Sessions provide tools for self care and relief from heaviness or stuckness which can be stored in the body from trauma or stress. And singing! Singing has a wealth of health benefits, allows space for creativity and… it’s fun!

I believe that these body, breath, vocal and singing tools can make a real difference to people’s lives and wellbeing in any community. My community project focus at the moment is MotherSong, which will research and develop therapeutic voice, singing, ritual and body awareness approaches to reduce traumatic births and promote mother-baby bonding.

Re-discovering voice…

My singing voice has always been with me and various musical projects have accompanied me through life;  a cappella group The Inspirations as a young teenager, noisy drum n bass act ZnO in my 20’s, many gorgeous guitar and singing sessions round a fire, the Bex Fidler Blues Band and, coming full-circle back to a capella singing with soulful, harmony-rich original trio Bel Mousai in my 30’s.

With the birth of my little boy came a period of reflection during lockdown and maternity leave. It was a time when I felt a strong desire to do something just for me and I began exploring collaborative vocal improvisation.  This led to my first healing experience with breath, body and voice which was unexpected and profound, and something I was compelled to explore further.
