Therapeutic voicework & circle singing

Working with the voice can be an amazing tool for enhancing our wellbeing - it engages the breath, connects to the heart and calms the nervous system.  It can take us out of our busy minds. It’s great for helping us feel more connected to ourselves and to others, it can boost confidence, help release emotion, and can reduce stress.  The voice is a tool for singing beautiful melodies and harmonies, and it can also be an incredible ally, a way-in to understand and express ourselves more deeply.

The workshops and courses I develop and deliver use therapeutic voicework techniques and / or are a space for Circle Singing, a deep and joyful exploration of voice, group singing and in-the-moment music making.

Circle Singing and the Healing Voice

These sessions will be a combination of:

  • Circle Singing;  a fun and playful exploration of voice, group singing and in-the-moment music making

  • Voicework; a gentle, therapeutic approach to connect more deeply with ourselves and support wellbeing.

In these sessions you will learn simple vocal tools that help tap into the parasympathetic nervous system, release emotional/ mental blocks and cultivate a deeper connection to innate wisdom.  We will also sing together, weaving tapestries of sound whilst learning new techniques and building blocks for song creation and vocal collaboration.

No experience required.  These sessions are for anyone interested in singing and the voice, including those who don’t think they can sing.

Series of 6 workshops: Tuesday 4th June - Tuesday 9th July 2024, 7 - 9pm

Evolution Arts @ Brighton Buddhist Centre

“The group singing with Bex was such an original experience; gentle, friendly, funny and light along with being focussed, professional and powerful. The energy of the women, the way our voices weaved together, and how we surprised ourselves with our own voices, the spontaneity, the developing confidence in new techniques, and trusting ourselves - it was beautiful and powerful, and at times, totally hysterical. I adored it and would love to be part of it again.”

Testimonials for workshops

  • I enjoyed connecting with others through sound, exploring my abilities, playing with my voice, pushing my fears and inhibitions away. Growing my confidence.

  • Your presence, the energy of the women, the way we surprised ourselves with our own voices, the spontaneity, the beautifully held space, the physical movements and sounds at the start of the sessions, the different techniques and how accessible they were made by you, the sense of something building to a real synergy between the women.

  • It was really well facilitated, it felt supportive at all times. I’m so glad it was a women’s group. I particularly loved bits where we did expressive singing and noise making, and just let sounds come up and out.

  • I felt safe and held. Bex set the boundaries and principles agreements very well and I always felt free and open and like we could not do anything wrong so so accommodating of anyones needs and that’s special in a practitioner . Timings were good. information was clear . And it was joyous and humorous at times yet felt deep and serious also.

  • Bex is skilled and confident and makes the sessions fun and safe. I found this a really positive uplifting and rewarding experience .. it feels so good to be allowed to just sing and share for no reason other than to feel the joy that is created in that moment.

  • Bex delivered the course with humility and friendly warmth and safely. She allowed everyone to feel equal and be heard and she gently encouraged us all to stretch a bit further each week . Thank you hugely . Everyone would benefit from this healing and creative experience.
